Technical SEO problems that show up on Microsoft partner websites

Illustration for technical SEO problems that show up on Microsoft partner websites

A Microsoft partner website can look polished and still make its best pages difficult to find. The implementation offer is buried, an old product URL keeps appearing in search, or the new industry page exists but has no meaningful links pointing to it. Publishing another article does not solve those problems.

For founders and marketing leaders, the useful technical SEO question is not “how many warnings did the audit find?” It is “what is stopping a buyer from discovering and using the pages that explain our work?” Start with the Dynamics practice, migration offer, or specialist service you actually want to grow.

Important pages are missing from the discovery path

A page can be live without being well connected. Partner sites often add new services through campaigns, acquisitions, or practice launches, then leave them outside the main navigation and related content. A sitemap helps search engines discover URLs, but it does not replace a useful internal linking structure.

Check whether the page returns a normal success response, allows indexing, and has relevant links from other public pages. A leftover noindex instruction from staging can exclude a good page. A robots.txt block can stop crawling, but is not a reliable way to remove a URL from search. Those are different problems and need different fixes.

Product renames leave a trail of competing URLs

Microsoft terminology changes, while buyers keep using older product names. A partner site may have legacy Dynamics pages, newer Dynamics 365 pages, and campaign copies covering much the same offer. That is not automatically a penalty. It can, however, make the intended destination unclear.

Decide which page serves each buyer need before changing anything. Keep useful legacy guidance where the intent is distinct. Where a page has genuinely moved, redirect it to the closest relevant replacement, update internal links, and check the canonical signal on the destination. Sending every retired URL to the homepage loses the context a buyer expected.

The design hides the substance

A service page built around animation, oversized imagery, and a downloadable brochure can make a clear offer surprisingly hard to access. Search engines can index PDFs, but a brochure should not be the only place a prospect can understand your implementation approach or industry experience.

Keep the core explanation in readable page content, with ordinary links to related services and evidence. Check the rendered page rather than assuming every tab or script-loaded section is available to crawlers. Then test the same page on a phone: a heavy video, shifting layout, or obstructive overlay can undermine the visit even when discovery works.

Regional pages repeat the same promise

Partners serving the US and UK sometimes multiply city and country pages without changing the substance. A location label alone does not explain local delivery, coverage, or why a buyer should choose that page over the main service page.

Separate regional pages when there is something useful to say about those markets. Otherwise, a stronger shared page may serve the buyer better. Use hreflang for genuine language or regional equivalents, not as a substitute for distinct content, and do not imply offices or delivery capabilities the firm does not have.

Prioritize the fixes that affect a real buying journey

A useful first pass follows a small set of commercial pages from discovery to enquiry:

  • Confirm that each intended landing page is crawlable, indexable, and the preferred version.
  • Trace links from navigation and relevant articles to the service it supports.
  • Check old URLs, redirects, and sitemap entries after a rebuild or product rename.
  • Test mobile reading, page stability, and the route to an enquiry.

Validate changes with a fresh crawl and Search Console where available. Eligibility for indexing is not a promise of rankings. As we explain in why Dynamics partners lose search visibility to larger competitors, technical foundations and useful commercial content have to work together.

PartnersSEO’s Technical SEO work turns that diagnosis into a prioritized fix list. The goal is not a cleaner dashboard for its own sake. It is a site where the pages that represent your expertise can be discovered, understood, and used by the right buyers.
